SAFOD conducted a 2-day regional all partner meeting on the 19th-20th of September 2024. All partners and representatives of state actors in Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe participated in the meeting.
The meeting targetted 15 participants; 5 SAFOD representatives from Botswana, 3 representatives from each OPD, 1 representative from each implementing partner and 1 representative of state actors in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Representatives from CBM were also present at the meeting.
Day 1 of the meeting, allowed partners to present project progress updates as well as challenges they face in the project. Both technical and financial challenges were raised for CBM to address to ensure that the project becomes successful.
A panel discussion which was hosted under the theme “Promoting exchange on inclusive disaster risk reduction between project partners governmental and non-governmental actor in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia”. The panelists were representatives of state actors and of project partners.
OPDs and other partners were able to engage with the government on issues of disaster risk reduction, policies were analyzed and recommendations were made to the government to ensure that they implement disability inclusive disaster risk reduction strategies in their countries.
