Position: Project Officer
Duty Station: Secretariat of the Southern Africa Federation of the Disabled (SAFOD)
 
Nature of Assignment: Full time
 
1.0 POSITION SUMMARY:
 
The Project Officer plans and implements partner level work, reporting, and
programme Monitoring, Evaluation Accountability and Learning of the project.
independently manage some of the necessary elements to ensure projects are
completed on time. 
 
2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Supporting the coordination and management of projects
 
2. Communicating with stakeholders regarding project needs and goals.
 
3. Contributing to the planning and development of projects
 
4. Manage aspects of project cycle including planning, implementation, monitoring and
evaluation.
 
5. Ensure project narrative reports are prepared and submitted on time using donor
reporting requirements.
 
6. Track/monitor day-to-day progress against project milestones and activities, against
scheduled work plans and overall project objectives.
 
7. Work with affiliates to identify needs for technical support and capacity building and
help facilitate the provision of these needs
 
8. Promote shared learning and collaboration between affiliates and partners by
facilitating partner networks and meetings to keep updated on trends new strategies.
 
9. Lead planning processes and the team in all matters relating to the Programme
design and delivery.
 
10. Identify opportunities for expansion and value addition to the programme/ projects
and advise the Programmes Director accordingly.
 
11. Support resource mobilization department on:
 
a) project proposal development and submission to potential donors,
b) Facilitating fundraising requests to potential sponsors,
c) Establishing rapport with potential donors,
 
3.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • University Degree in relevant field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, project management
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience, ideally in NGO or having experience of working with government partners and project fund/grant management.

4.0 COMPETENCES
 
  • A strong awareness of disability advocacy issues in the field of development.
  • Proven computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software including MS Word processing, Power point presentation, Excel spreadsheets, e-mail and web-based research.
  •  Excellent networking and partnership building skills with experience in networking with local and international partners, and other organizations.
  • Extensive knowledge in Programme planning, design development and management.
  • Dynamic, self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Team builder and player.
  • The ideal candidate should possess a very good command of written and spoken English.
 
Position: Resource Mobilization Officer  
Duty Station: Secretariat of the Southern Africa Federation of the Disabled (SAFOD)
 
 
Nature of Assignment: Full time
 
1.0 POSITION SUMMARY:
 
The Resource Mobilization Officer will implement the SAFOD resource Mobilization
strategy by performing the following tasks and responsibilities.
 
2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1. Leading the implementation of resource mobilisation and fundraising activities for
either the SAFOD Secretariat or for any of its ten affiliates, including:
 
a) Project proposal development and submission to potential donors,
b) Facilitating fundraising requests to potential sponsors,
c) Establishing rapport with potential donors,
 
2. Coordinating web-based fundraising activities for either the SAFOD Secretariat or for
any of its ten national affiliates, including:
 
a) Social media campaigns,
b) Crowdfunding and donations through web sites.
 
3. Researching, documenting and/or reviewing online and offline donor databases
and/or resources to consolidate the SAFOD database.
 
4. Developing partnerships with potential grant-making institutions to increase
awareness of the causes, activities, or needs of the organization and/or any of its
affiliates.
 
5. Develop innovative approaches in mobilizing non-financial resources locally,
regionally, and internationally; and develop a strategy for obtaining this regularly.
 
6. Provide advice to SAFOD Secretariat’s program staff on institutional donor
requirements and private foundations, including reporting timelines and 
expectations. Advice may also include potential funding opportunities and changes
in donor priorities.
 
7. Arranging appointments/visits with potential partners or sponsors based in Botswana
and, where it is financially feasible, with even those that are resident outside the
country – to engage them in face-to-face funding negotiations.
 
8. Providing capacity-building support to all our national affiliates, SAFOD staff, and
volunteers in fundraising and resource mobilization, including:
 
a) Developing a fundraising training toolkit or manual or tutorial,
b) Carrying out face-to-face and/or online orientation training for our national
affiliates, SAFOD staff, and volunteers.
c) Coordinating and capacitating online resource mobilization volunteers engaged
through various online volunteer platforms to which SAFOD is subscribed.
 
9. Where feasible, in liaison with the Director of Programs, provide support with the
management of some of the SAFOD projects within the Programs Department.
 
10. Periodically report challenges and accomplishments to SAFOD Management
regarding fundraising and resource mobilisations efforts.
 
3.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • University degree in Economics, Social sciences, or related development field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in a related field and in non-profit resource mobilization.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and resource mobilization at local, regional and international levels.

  • Proven computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software including MS Word processing, Power point presentation, Excel spreadsheets, e-mail and web-based research.
  • Excellent networking and partnership building skills with experience in networking with local and international NGOs, CSOs, donors, Ministry-level partners, and other organizations.
  • Knowledge of various donor requirements and proven ability to develop and write winning grants proposals.
  • Extensive knowledge in Programme planning, design development and management.
  • Proven ability in grant management reporting.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Dynamic, self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Team builder and player.
  • The ideal candidate should possess a very good command of written and spoken English
