Register for the Side Event - DiDRR Project LaunchThe Southern Africa Federation of the Disabledin partnership with the Christian Blind Mission e.V. (CBM), will organize a side event on the evening of Tuesday, 22 November 2022 at the the Southern Africa Disability Roundtable Forum, which brings together various actors on triennial intervals to reflect and evaluate the work of SAFOD and the disability movement in the region, share information and experiences, assess progress being achieved by Governments and other duty bearers with regards to implementation of development policies and programs affecting persons with disabilities within the region.

The event is focused on "Enhancing disability-inclusive DRR capacities and strengthening resilience against climate-related disasters in the Southeast African region."

The side event aims to contribute to the project goal of enhancing disability inclusive DRR capacities and strengthening resilience against climate related disasters in Southeast Africa. 

The following are the specific objectives of the Side Event:

  1. To present the project framework and formally launch it.
  2. To seek and document stakeholder inputs/feedback into the project framework.
  3. To raise DIDRR awareness and inclusive response to disasters.
  4. To disseminate CBM DiDRR research findings from Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Zambia.
  5. To enhance networking and continuous sharing of DiDRR information between persons with disabilities and other strategic stakeholders.
This side event targets some of the delegates of the main Roundtable Forum, such as governments, development partners, OPDs, CSOs, the media, the private sector, and the academia.  The side event will be hybrid as it will be captured live through Facebook streaming and through Zoom as a webinar, it will, therefore, be available for virtual participation from the public. The methodologies will be in the form of presentations and sharing of experiences through open talks. 
 
The event will culminate in the launch of a new DiDRR project being funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
 
This is a hybrid event (both physical and virtual attendance).
